The role of SESO in addressing the economic challenges caused by the COVID 19

EVENT DESCRIPTION 

The JOinUP! “SESO Community Meetups” 

were considered within the JOinUp! scope in order to encourage synergies within the social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Jordan. TTi and in close collaboration with Oxfam will work on the facilitation of monthly meet-ups between key Social Entrepreneurship Support Organizations, in conclusion, 20 networking events will be organized with the primary objective of “To encourage cooperation and collaboration between SESOs in Jordan and the establishment and sustainability of the SESO network”.

–          دور المنشآت الاجتماعية والمنظمات الداعمة لها في مجابهة محنة فيروس كورونا وكيف قامت هذة المنظمات بتعديل خدماتها  لتصل لمستهدفينها  ؟

  • 1.1 Challenges :
    • Many types of training are difficult to apply remotely, and if that is done, the results of this training will be much less effective than they need to be. An example of these training is the economic feasibility workshops for projects, where the difficulty lies in the trainer’s inability to verify the project on reality.
    • The online techniques in delivering some service and events worked with much less efficiency comparing with face to face.
    • The economic challenges in Irbid are considered one of the biggest problems that hinder the work of entrepreneurs at this time.

    1.2 How they fight these challenges:

    The SESO and  social enterprises have created several updates techniques  in their work  that would respond to this crisis like :

    • Creating new products suit these conditions and reduce the spread of coronavirus.
    • Provide psychological support as an additional service to raise their beneficiary’s spirits and help them to overcome this crisis and raise their productivity if they have a startup .
    • Establishing a new service called  “inquiries responding” to help Irbid community to understand any new electronic service from the government and get the maximum benefit from it.
    • Create a hotline for requesting bread.

     

    • The bright side of  COVID-19  form Irbid community perspective

     

    The attendees indicated that the Coronavirus crisis created many opportunities and learned lessons for the community in Irbid like :

    • The community in Irbid has demonstrated continuous cooperation with precautionary regulations and its transparency with the government.
    • Despite social distancing, many social initiatives and bonding is there among all community clusters
    • This crisis allowed the kingdom to test its laws in emergencies in various fields and the opportunity to reform them so that they could become more effective.
    • The importance of using technology in carrying out tasks in various sectors, especially the private sector.
    • An opportunity for companies to reflect on their rigidity and to reconsider what we do, how we do it, and why we do it.
    • The world now looks at social solutions from a different LENS
